Vintage interview!

11 Nov

Was having a delve into my old portfolio, and this cracker appeared; my From Autumn to Ashes interview. It’s funny reading back work you did in your first year of uni. Then again, this one is in Q&A format. I actually remember this interview well, as it was one of my first ‘big’ bands I had to interview, and went all the way up to Leeds just for 10 minutes. The guy I spoke to had a very nice American accent as well, if you must know:

Up until last year, US rock band From Autumn to Ashes had been very quiet.

This may have been because of the departure of their vocalist, Benjamin Perri. However luck was on the band’s side as drummer Jeff Gretz stepped up to front the group shortly after 2007’s album Holding a Wolf by the Ears was released.

Since, the band has been growing from strength to strength, touring the world. Bandidge speaks to FATA’s Brian Deneeve (guitar and vocals) on gigging and …erm… tampons.

From Lincoln to La Roux article

7 Nov

Some of my proudest work. An interview with one of the members of La Roux. Published on The Linc.

There are not many musicians out there who have come out of Lincolnshire. However, there was one band, I Was A Cub Scout, who looked set to change that. From playing to crowds at Leeds and Reading to the duo’s quirky music videos on MTV, it was going well. Until they split.

But drummer Will Bowerman, 21, didn’t give up there. Now he has worked with the likes of Panic at the Disco and Babyshamles, and is currently drumming for electropop newcomers La Roux.

‘Spotlight: Ryan Jagger’

Ryan Jagger

Ryan Jagger

Here is an interview I did a couple of months ago with a local RnB musician Ryan Jagger, written for The Linc. Currently I interview local bands once a week to give them some attention on the website or even in the print addition.

Ryan Jagger has created a bit of a stir in the quiet town of Cleethorpes. Just 21-years-old, Jagger has written, recorded, and is in the process of releasing his pop-RnB style music onto iTunes. He is being helped by J.Milnes, the man behind Jamelia and the Sugababes, and has played to crowds of 8,000 people.
